Solar Viewing Event

on . Hits: 223

Our third Solar Viewing Event of the summer will be held at our observatory on Saturday 12th August, between 11am and 3pm.

Join us to view the Sun through our special Solar telescopes (weather permitting).

In addition, visitors may get a chance to "catch a Perseid meteor" - this event coincides with the peak activity of the Perseid meteor shower, one of the major meteor showers of the year. As well as our solar equipment we will also have our meteor detecting radio equipment in operation potentially "seeing" up to 100 meteors per hour.

For details please look at our Solar Viewing page.

Note - our telescopes are specially filtered for viewing the Sun. It is very dangerous to look directly at the Sun through any telescopes or binoculars that haven't been adapted, or even just looking with your eyes.
