It is Mansfield and Sutton Astronomical Society’s Equal Opportunities policy to –
Support the principle of equal opportunities in all areas of its service delivery and membership and oppose all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination on the grounds of age, creed, colour, race, nationality or ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status or disability.
Make sure that every reasonable step, within the framework of the law, is taken to ensure that all individuals are treated fairly and equally, both within and outside the Society, and that no individual, be they member, prospective member, a recipient of the services of the Society, or the general public at large, should suffer direct or indirect discrimination.
Ensure that all members act in accordance with this policy. Members found not to comply will be subject to disciplinary action as described in the society rules.
Inform any person who believes that they are being unfairly treated in any way associated with this policy to raise the matter with any member of the committee so the matter can be reported to the committee and dealt with in accordance with the society rules.
Make clear that direct or indirect discrimination, including harassment and victimisation, will not be tolerated and that the Society will act to overcome the results of unfair discrimination to ensure that everyone receives fair and equal treatment in respect of service delivery or membership.
