We are immensely proud to announce that our Chair and Planetarium Project
Manager, Dr Steve Wallace has been recognised in The King’s Birthday Honours List
2025 and awarded an MBE for services to the community in Ashfield.
In particular, for his work on the delivery of our Planetarium and Science Centre at
Sherwood Observatory, and for his public outreach in the area.
As an organisation, we feel incredibly fortunate to have such an inspiring,
hardworking and dedicated member, who has worked tirelessly to turn our dreams
into a reality. We wish to send our heartfelt congratulations on this very special
recognition of his dedication to our charity, and the community as a whole.
“I feel incredibly proud to have been given this honour for doing something that I enjoy so much. Needless to say, it is the hard work of our volunteers, and the reputation that they have built over the last 50 years that has made the creation of our planetarium and science centre possible. We all passionately believe in inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers and exciting people, whatever their age, about the wonders of the cosmos. Thanks also go to our incredible project board, sponsors, donors, and to Ashfield District Council for having faith in our vision.”
